Corporate Philanthropy - Political Influence - and Health Policy
Question: Discuss about Statement of the Problem, Quantitative Methodology, research design for quantitative methodology, selection of most appropriate qualitative methodology and justification for choosing Quantitative Methodology? Answer: Introduction The concept of Philanthropy also referred to as humanitarians defines the enhancement of the individuals as well as organizations worldwide. This is not confined within the understanding of the experienced or persons being pensioned off but also among the younger generations as they willingly participate in the activities. The purpose of Philanthropy is to mitigate the reasons behind problem rather than solving the consequences of the problem that is the main goal of charity. In this study, the researcher focuses on the various aspects of Quantitative methodology to analyze the need for Global Philanthropy. Statement of the Problem According to Fooks Gilmore, (2013) many high net worth individuals globally describes that the need for Philanthropy have prime importance over the other global issues. There is a need for Global Philanthropy, as it will assist to face the issues of global poverty and climate change. The previous definition of Philanthropy represents the act of wealthy individuals donating large amounts of money for socially beneficial causes but now it encompasses not only the giving of money, but also gifts of goods, skills, services and time for public benefit. Hence, there is a need to widespread the concept of Philanthropy globally. Purpose of the Study The main objective behind this study is to determine the need for global Philanthropy and examine the methods to enhance and spread the initiatives for Philanthropy worldwide (Greenspan, Handy Gerro, 2012). This study will help to determine the issues that are raised due to the inappropriate deployment strategies for Philanthropy across the world. Research Questions The research questions prepared to study the problems by utilizing Quantitative methodology are as below: What are the most important factors that influences the widespread of Philanthropy? How well the socio-cultural development throughout the world be addressed by global philanthropy? What percentage of the individuals are deprived of their basic resources due to lack of philanthropy? Research Methodology The researcher assumes the Quantitative study for the collection of data that suffices with the evaluation on the need of global Philanthropy (Xueying, 2012). There is a need to collect some data with positive aspect and a suitable approach that will help in the conduction of this research. Quantitative Methodology The quantitative methodology identifies with positivism philosophical approach that represents physical and social reality is independent of the observation of researcher (Gautier Pache, 2015). This methodology has been chosen for this study as it is concerned with an objective that the need of global Philanthropy will be discovered. Research Design for Quantitative Methodology In this study, the experimental research design related to Quantitative methodology will be utilized to answer the research questions (Krathwohl, 2009). This research design is suitable for the study as it will assist to impose control over all other variables expect the Global Philanthropy as independent variable. Selection of most appropriate qualitative methodology According to Krathwohl, (2009) there are various approaches in Qualitative research design as Explanatory, Interpretive, Thematic coding, Semi-structured interviews and Non-profitability sample. The suitable qualitative research design for this study is the semi-structured interviews, as it will help to gather adequate information by interviewing several participants regarding the undertaken research topic (Krathwohl, 2009). The semi-structured interviews will be conducted with a set of pre-determined questions for analyzing the views of the individual participants concerning the need of Philanthropy at global level (Greenspan, Handy Gerro, 2012). This approach will provide an in-depth knowledge on the dependent variables that are required to determine the importance of independent variable for this research. Justification for choosing Quantitative Methodology The chosen design for the Quantitative research methodology is Experimental research and it suffices to address the research questions as well as research problems. The Experimental research design is the most suited for this research as it is a systematic and scientific approach to research in which the researcher will be able to manipulate one or more variables and any change in other variables can be measured and controlled (Shaw et al. 2013). Furthermore, this research design prioritizes time over the cause and effect so it is the appropriate design for this particular research. Conclusion In summary, the experimental research design for Quantitative methodology and the semi-structured interviews for Qualitative methodology are the most suitable for this particular research. These two research approaches will assist in the successful conduction this research as it provides support for the determination and analysis of the various factors involved with the importance of global Philanthropy for addressing issues of global poverty and climate change. Research Paper on Copyright
Research Paper on Copyright Copyright is a universal law created to protect authorsââ¬â¢ of original creationsââ¬â¢.It promotes the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveriesââ¬â¢.( U.S Constitution, Article 1, Section 8). It grants the authorsââ¬â¢ exclusive ownership and legally allows them to deny others the privilege of using their works. Copyright can be placed on anything in tangible medium such as; literary, artistic, dramatic orà architectural works, however, it doesnââ¬â¢t cover material in the public domain. It was first introduced in 1790, although most creations before the twentieth century were not copyrighted. The basic length of copyright is determined by adding seventy years onto the lifespan of the author. It cannot be renewed. This essay will focus on three main aspects of Internet Copyright. Firstly, it will discuss existing copyright laws, secondly it will analys e copyright infringements on these laws and finally it will discuss the importance of knowing and understanding copyright. Copyright laws on the Internet differ in each country but they tend to cover the same principles. The act of Fair Dealing allows people to use a part of an original document without the permission of the author, however, the author of the original work and the source from which it originated must be cited. It must be a reasonable amount used only for research, teaching,à criticism or comment with no financial gain. In the case of copying pictures or photographs, permission from the owner must always be sought with the exception of four things; it is owned by the government, was published before 1922 and registered at a Copyright office, advertised as free or in the public domain. The failure to comply by these regulations is known as plagairism. Laws relating to software are very simple. One copy of the program is allowed to be stored on a computer and one back up disc can be made, any more copies made or distributed are illegal and referred to as software piracy. Profit made by re gistering other peoplesââ¬â¢ trademarks as oneââ¬â¢s own is called Cyber squatting and although not as easy or as common anymore, it is still illegal. These laws protect original work and present businesses with the opportunity of advancement. They allow the public to use or view works within limits and are a small requirement for the vast amount of information available on the internet. Infringements on Copyright, although being a federal offence, are common practices on the internet Software piracy is a worldwide problem. ââ¬Å"Software companies are launching more and more lawsuits against major infractorsâ⬠.( Webopedia, 2003, p. 1) Software is easy to duplicate therefore making ità vulnerable to infringement. Share ware attempts to lower piracy by encouraging users to supply othersââ¬â¢ with copies in the hope that they will enjoy it enough to buy the full version or pay a small monthly fee directly to the author. Illegally copying software doesnââ¬â¢t just affect the company but the userà as well as theyà receive no documentation, customer support or update information on products. Piracy diminishes the worth of a program and proves difficult for small companies to stay in business. Cyber squatting is in illegal practice, common around the time of the birth of the Internet. Businesses were unaware of the Internetsââ¬â¢ potential so people th ought registering a well known trademark and waiting until the rightful owner realized the internets power would be profitable as they could sell the domain name back to the rightful owner . Panasonic, Avon and Hertz were all victims of cyber squatting. Today, the importance of having a domain name is common knowledge thus diminishing the number of cyber squatters rapidly. Plagairism is the most common illegal practice on the internet. Plagairism is very easy to do but doesnââ¬â¢t come without itsââ¬â¢ consequences. Plagairisers are easily found on the internet with search engines, enabling authors to locate improper copies of their work and rightly prosecuting the offender/s. Plagairism also includes forwarding an email in which the intnded use has been altered.Students found to commit any of these face lowered marks, failure and even expulsion from schools. Infringement on Copyright is a violation of the law and property rights of the authors and deprives them of due credit of their hard work and efforts and can evolve into a costly court case. It is of paramount importance to know and understand the laws of copyright. Abiding by the rules can literally save people millions of dollars. Copyright is a protection act and to defy it is to defy others the right to display their work and to receive credit on their achievements. As mentioned earlier, knowing these laws can be the difference beween passing a course or being diqualified. It is an incentive for students and the general population to create something original and share it with the rest of the world. Most importantly knowing and understanding these laws enables the system to run smoother and creates space for people to better their work. Internet Copyright is a valued law which is not taken seriously enough. Infringing Copyright is unfair on everybody. It inhibits innovation, diminishes the value of an artistsââ¬â¢work, makes it harder on businesses and dissolves the credit to artists for their hard work, time and effort to produce work which is there for everyone to enjoy. Stronger laws and penalties will have to be introduced if Copyright infringement is going to lower or stop. Cd and DVD burners on the market and in computers contradict the regulations of copyright, almost making it legal to defy it. Why buy a product when it can be produced for a tenth of the cost? Why not copy information from the internet- who is going to find out? The internet is the biggest threat to copyright and with these unresolved issues itsââ¬â¢ future appears unsuccessful.

Reducing and Managing stress Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Reducing and Managing stress - Research Paper Example Relaxation can be provided to body and mind and it does not need extra time. Addition of extra hours in a day does not reduce stress and enhance relaxation. Even sleeping or being lazy excessively cannot reduce the level of stress. The best way to reduce stress and fresh up oneââ¬â¢s body and mind is to increase the physical activities. The cheapest and easiest physical exercise is walking. it can be done any place any time. It even does not require machines or tools for exercising. Walking is far better than lying down on bed for a long time in order to get relaxed. It makes a person more dull, tired and stressed. This is because our body does not accept sedentary life style. It requires movement. Therefore, walking involves the movement of all parts of body and makes the body and mind fresh, active and happy. As, I myself am quite stressed these days, therefore, I intend to set up a plan to change my health behavior and achieve my goal within 4 weeks of time, starting from secon d week and ending up at the sixth week. Plan: My plan is to daily walk for a while twice a day. Early in the morning before going for work and then in the evening after coming back from work. I plan to start from few minutes of walking and day by day increase the time to walk. Goal: My body is not used to walk and perform physical activities. ... I fell and got hurt on my foot. My foot had twisted and was immensely aching. This acted as a potential barrier and I was not able to walk for four days. Potential Enabler: After I was hurt and could not walk for constant four days, my determination became a bit shaky. As it was just the beginning, I became lazier. I would not even have started walking on the fifth day of my injury of a neighborhood friend of mine had not encouraged me. He had also started walking along me and was to achieve the same goal like me. The thought that he will achieve his goal and I wonââ¬â¢t also boosted me up and enabled me to start walking again as soon as possible. Week Distance Walked Potential Barrier Potential Enabler Week 2 0.5 km Hurt on foot Competitor friend Week 3 1 km None None Week 4 1.75 km Work load Self motivation Week 5 3 km None Increment in stamina Week 6 3 km None Will of maintenance In the second week I targeted to walk 1 kilometer but could not do so due to a potential barrier th at was a hurt on foot. But very soon I recovered and managed to walk again due to the motivation by a friend who also acted as my competitor as he had started the same plan along with me. In the third week I again walked half a kilometer as I had become slow. But, as there was neither a potential barrier nor a potential enabler, therefore I was neither able to increase the distance nor decrease it, just managed to maintain it. The fourth week introduced new potential barrier as well as potential enabler. The barrier was that I had excessive work load that resulted in fatigue and lack of time and I was not able to walk much. Yet, despite of being tired, my determination and self motivation encouraged and enabled me to

Future of more energy efficient planes Research Paper
Future of more energy efficient planes - Research Paper Example (Coogan 41) The robust demand for commercial and air transport drives the current intensive research and development of energy efficient planes. As a matter of fact, the modern aircraft today has decreased in energy consumption significantly compared to old planes. According to Ngo and Natowtiz, with occupancy rates on the order of 70-80% the fuel consumption of recently built planes is on the order of 5L/100 km per passenger and that this means flying over a given distance as about the same in terms of energy consumption and CO2 emissions per passenger as driving the same distance with a car. (333) It must be underscored that technological innovations in the history of mankind, especially in the area of transportations, has been less energy efficient than the technology it replaced. In this regard, the use of supersonic air transport could reverse the trend for air transport. The engine of these supersonic jets are expected to beat all other current aircrafts in the area of energy efficiency because its technological designs optimize such items as fuel/air mixture, engine temperature and airflow velocities. (Siuru 155) A future supersonic transport could travel at speeds of Mach 2.7, making a trip from Los Angeles to Tokyo in a little over three hours. (Siuru 155) Some market projections anticipate a fleet of some 300 to 1,200 commercial supersonic jets in service in the next 10-30 years. Another interesting area in the supersonic jet technology, which makes it the most energy efficient aircraft of the future, is the so-called oblique-wing airliner concept. It supposedly eliminates the conventional fuselage by having passengers ride inside the wing. Siuru pointed to the computations that show how an oblique-wing airliner could fly at Mach 1.6, twice the speed of the Boeing 747, while consuming no more than a subsonic jumbo jet. Here, the level of fuel efficiency is achieved through the oblique wingââ¬â¢s very high lift-to-drag ratio and, subsequently,

Kinetic lab report Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Kinetic - Lab Report Example the amount of time for a given amount of product, sulfur, to form). Recall that a rate for a chemical reaction is expressed as an amount of product formed (or reactant used up) divided by the time interval of the change: The aim of my experiment is to determine the dependence of the initial rate of reaction on the initial concentration of thiosulfate ion. The concentration of the other reactant, H+, will be kept constant. A higher initial concentration of thiosulfate will lead to faster rate of reaction, since an increase in the number of thiosulfate ions per unit volume will lead to higher probability for successful collision. (2) A solution of 1 M sodium thiosulfate, is available (center bench or hood). Add 70 mL of this solution to 210 mL of water to make a solution approximately 0.25 M in thiosulfate. We will refer to this as your "stock thiosulfate solution". (7) The experiment is now repeated four more times, using progressively more dilute thiosulfate solutions. Note, however, that for each experiment, the disappearance of the "X" corresponds to formation of the same amount of precipitated sulfur in the reaction mixture. The diluted solutions are prepared as follows: The collected data indicates that the rate of reaction is increasing with increasing amounts of thiosulfate solution. An increase in the amount of thiosulfate augments the amount of particles available in solution to react. Hence there is a larger probability for reactants to react and so the rate of collisions increases which in turn increases the rate of reaction. Moreover as it is assumed that the total amount of sulfur created during the reaction remains constant, it can be implied that the usage of reactants during the reaction is small which supports the idea that the concentration of reactants is constant throughout the reaction. Given the two unique sets of data, the stock solution
